My name is Wes.
I started this site as a extremely accessible way for people, such as yourself to view my work. In time, this website will evolve into something much more than that.
My Design Philosophy
Design is an ongoing process of controlled adaptation. A product of a designer, who adapts their skills to their clients needs. These skills stem from a process, passed down from our predecessors, and adapted to the individual, growing over time, and the cycle continues.
To me, design begins in disorder. The beauty of great design is the ability of the designer to adapt this disorder to the influence of time and location. The ability to provide it a function, purpose, and style. The ability to see, and adapt a concept out of chaos.
And a Little Bit About My Life
My youth was spent gathering inspiration, always admiring and re-creating my favorite illustrations. As a young teen in high school I began taking an interest in printing arts. Fostered by a position obtained at a local print shop, I considered a life in printmaking.
I attended Governors State University, where I studied all forms of printmaking, and minored in sculpture arts for 2 years.
Never able to settle in one practice, I decided that graphic design would allow me to marry all my passions into one unified career. I attended The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago, where I obtained my Bachelors degree in Visual Communications in September 2012.
My personal design aesthetics lean toward crisp, clean, and uncrowded. I focus on the fine detail, and strongly believe in concept before creation. I offer a variety of services to clients, sharing my strengths in Advertising, Branding, Information Design, Package Design, Web Materials, and Collateral Packages. I also offer my services in Concept Creation, Illustration, and Photography. Contact me any time by email.
Currently I am Freelancing various projects, from infographics to web materials, and attempting to bolster my appearance in the design community present throughout Chicago.
